Question to Dr. Duffy
Dear Dr. Duffy,
Question to Dr. DuffyDear Dr. Duffy,
Above is a picture of me in Grand Manan Novia Scotia touring a fish factory
Well when it rains it pours, I have 2 new illnesses this week. (Well not new, just actually diagnosed). I have spent most of the week in doctor’s offices or having tests. I have had Hepatitis C for many years, now it has progressed to Cirrhosis. Statistics show I will probably live another 5-10 yrs. (Hopefully most of it good.) I am also officially a diabetic, Yuk this really means I have to control my sweet intake (a very big weakness of mine).
More than 40 percent of women ages 18-59 experience sexual dysfunction, with lack of sexual interest the most common. A study from Stanford University tried to answer the question:
“What role does the brain play in some women’s lack of sexual desire?”
This research is important because most previous studies have looked at men and the body rather then women and the mind.
In this study 36 women (half with arousal dysfunction) were shown both erotic video segments and women’s sporting events. In between these clips, they were shown calm scenes such as flowers, mountains or ocean waves. The purpose of this was to give the brain a rest between exotic and active videos.
My doctor said I should have a blood test for Vit D levels to make sure I am not deficient. Later that same week a physician friend of mine said her doctor put her on Vit D after a blood test showed a deficiency. She told me she had multiple joint and muscle pains that went away with addition of the supplement.
Although currently there is a lot of hype and misinformation about Vit D we are still learning about how it effects the body, how to get it, and if supplements work.
